We are happy to announce a new
relationship with Murano, Italy master glass artist Angelo Formentello. Murano Millefiori will be exclusively offering his original mouth blown
glassware. Angelo's production of blown glass is entirely
carried out by hand in his furnace/studio on the island of Murano.
Angelo is a second
generation master glassmaker who learned the art of glassmaking from his father. He specializes in creating colourful
and playful handcrafted glass art masterpieces with a unique technique, called
Murrine. Murrine is an Italian art term
for patterns made in glass. Each Murrine
piece is made by layering different colours of molten glass creating a glass
cane, which then are cut in cross-sections to reveal the beautiful colours of
the Murrine.
No two pieces are the same, each piece is an original work of
art in itself, signed and certified by the artist. Because each vase is hand blown and not machine made, occasionally there are small bubbles or tiny imperfections.
