This is a special purchase of solid color glass rods direct from Murano/Venice, Italy! We will be uploading approximately 60 different solid color opaque, transparent, and translucent glass rods.
Rod Cutting Suggestions: There are several different
ways to cut rods. Personally, I use my wheeled Leponitt cutters for
thin rods from 4mm to about 14mm. I remove the little pin under the
right wheel so I can open the jaws wider.
For thick rods, I sometimes
have to place the left handle of the Leponitts on a table and push down
on the right handle to snap the rod. For the thicker rods, I use an
inexpensive wet saw I got from Home Depot. It cuts thick rods very
smoothly. I know that some people prefer using a small stained glass
ring saw. Its a little slower but accurate and cuts smoothly. If you
use either the ring saw or wet saw, guide the rod very slowly while
cutting so as to minimize any "hazing" of the cane surface. If you get
hazing, fire polishing and/or a jeweler's sander will remove it.
